Salary: £14 to £18+ additional payments for emergency/winter callouts
Monday to Friday, 07:00 – 16:00 (overtime & out-of-hours work available)
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Street Lighting Maintenance Operative to join a dedicated highways maintenance team. This is a key role ensuring the safe and reliable operation of electrical assets across London’s streets.
🔧 Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair street lighting, signs, and illuminated bollards
- Perform new installations and electrical testing
- Ensure all work meets TfL’s safety and quality standards
📜 Qualifications not essential but experience needed :
- City & Guilds 2360 Part 1 & 2 or equivalent
- AM1 / AM2 or equivalent
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Inspection & Testing qualification
- G39 certification
- Full UK Driving Licence
🛠️ Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- IPAF (MEWP operation)
- HGV or HIAB licence (desirable)
- CSCS card
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel)
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Good time management and communication skills
🧰 Experience & Knowledge:
- Time-served electrician with a solid understanding of electrical circuits
- Previous experience in street lighting or external electrical applications
- Familiar with London’s local road network, traffic management & reinstatement practices
